Spinning Straw into Gold: Automated Syntax-Semantics Analysis

Spring 2007 | Instructors: Jason Baldridge, Katrin Erk | Tuesday and Thursday, 2-3:30pm | PAR 308

This course will cover advanced methods for analyzing syntax and semantics of naturally occuring text, largely through machine learning approaches. We will consider context-free grammars, dependency grammars, and categorial grammars, semantic role-labeling, word sense disambiguation, and selectional preferences. The course will be driven by discussion of recent research papers.
