**Computational Linguistics (PAR 10)**

Laptop Usage Instructions

* All the laptops are dual-boot. You can choose between Microsoft Windows XP and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (Linux) from the boot menu that appears on start up.

* Please remember that all the laptops share a single login. Any files you create, download or store including browsing history and credentials may be available to other users who use the laptop after you. Please make sure to erase all temporary files when finished.

* To access your home folder or the /groups folder, you will need to ssh into the lab machines by connecting to ssh.ling.utexas.edu using your Comp Ling lab username and password.

On Windows:

Username: labuser Password: 1ntr0p!

To connect to the restricted.utexas.edu wireless network: a) Click on the balloon that will appear on the bottom right corner on the desktop. b) Enter your EID, Password and “utexas” without the quotes as the domain in the dialog that appears.

On Ubuntu Linux:

Username: labuser Password: 1ntr0p!

To connect to the restricted.utexas.edu wireless network:

a) Click on the NetworkManager icon (top right corner of the desktop).

b) Select restricted.utexas.edu from the list by clicking on it.

c) On the dialog that appears, enter the following:

  1. EAP method: TTLS
  2. Key type: TKIP
  3. Identity: Your UT EID
  4. Password: Your UT EID password
  5. CA certificate file: Browse folders and select /etc/wpa/certs/cacert.pem

d) Leave other fields unchanged in the dialog.

e) Click on the ‘Login to network’ button.
